In a historic first, FIFA has planned three distinct opening ceremonies for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The expanded festivities will also coincide with special celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
Each ceremony is scheduled to begin approximately 90 minutes before the respective host nation’s opening group stage match, a strategic move by FIFA to encourage fans to take their seats early.
Mexico: The Kick-off (June 11)
The tournament officially begins on June 11 in Mexico, where the host nation will face South Africa. The inaugural ceremony will feature performances by Mexican stars Maná, Alejandro Fernández, and Belinda, alongside South African singer Tyla. The band Los Ángeles Azules is also slated to perform.
Canada: Toronto Celebration (June 12)
Canada will host its first match on June 12 in Toronto against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The pre-match entertainment will showcase top Canadian talent, including Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, and Alessia Cara.
USA: Los Angeles Spectacle (June 13)
The United States will play its opening match against Paraguay on June 13 at SoFi Stadium. The American ceremony's main attractions will include global pop icon Katy Perry and Remara. Additionally, rapper Demun Cash (known as Future) and DJ Sanjay are expected to perform.
Global Star Power
FIFA is reportedly in talks to add several more international artists to the lineup across the three venues. Potential performers include Lisa, J Balvin, Anitta, Danny Ocean, Ileana, and Vegedream, ensuring a diverse cultural celebration for the world's largest sporting event.
