The United States has granted visas to the Iranian national football team to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move ends weeks of uncertainty just 10 days before the tournament kicks off, Shafaq News reports.
Due to the visa delays, Iran had to relocate its preparation camp from Arizona, USA, to Tijuana, Mexico. The team is scheduled to arrive there on June 7.
Iran will kick off their Group G campaign against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, followed by a match against Belgium in the same city.
They will face Egypt in Seattle for their final group-stage encounter.
However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously clarified that no individuals associated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) would be permitted to enter the United States as part of the World Cup delegation.
The tournament is taking place amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.
This marks the first time since the inception of the World Cup in 1930 that the tournament is being held under conditions of direct political and military hostility between a host nation and a participating country.
