Commenting on Bangladesh's achievement in the health sector, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "It is very difficult to handle a large population in a small area.
Although, we are trying our level best."
On Thursday, May 11, Prime Minister made this statement at a high-level meeting on 'Accelerating Universal Health Coverage Towards Smart Bangladesh' at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka.
Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh has taken some measures to provide health care not only with treatment and medicine, but also with food, nutritional safety, cleanliness and overall education. After the formation of government in 1996, I took the initiative to deliver healthcare to the people doorsteps. Our plan was to have about 18,000 community health care centers."
"Where mass people especially women and children can get medical services in a very easy way. In 2001, We were not into power. So those who came to power later, stopped our plan. After coming to power in 2009, we took such initiative again," PM added.
