On January 30th, 2024, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Zhao Leji sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on her assumption of office as Honorable Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh.
Zhao Leji wrote in the message that China and Bangladesh are neighbors with a long history of friendship. In recent years, the two countries have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, constantly enhanced political mutual trust, and yielded fruitful results in Belt and Road cooperation. Zhao said he would like to work together with his Bangladeshi counterpart to further deepen the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and the Parliament of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, so as to uplift the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to a new heigh.
