National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem said that former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed will not get a chance to make his black money white.

He said this in response to a question from reporters at the post-budget press conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Friday (June 7) afternoon.

The NBR chairman said that Benazir has fallen into the case of undisclosed money. A criminal case is now underway. How will Benazir's black money be white?

On the question of how ethical he considers the opportunity to whiten black money in the budget, he said, it is done mainly because there is some unexpected money, which is not shown in the return for some reason.

The opportunity to legalise black money was introduced due to the demand of the businesses. The NBR came to know that some businessmen could not show their assets on tax files due to audit-related issues. That's why we proposed introducing it, he said.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in the budget speech said incidentally the introduction of a data verification system has created legal complications over the disclosure of undisclosed income and assets of various companies.
