IGP Seeks Student Cooperation for Maintaining Law, Order

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has sought the cooperation of students in maintaining law and order in the country. He said, "The police don't have a magic solution to stop thefts, robberies, and murders nationwide. We are trying, and we need the cooperation of students. Everyone must come together to resist." He
emphasized the need for collective efforts in addressing crime, including thefts, robberies, and murders, and assured the public of ongoing investigations into recent incidents.

He made these remarks on Saturday, December 28, 2024, during the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Retired Police Officers Welfare Association, held at the capital's Rajarbagh Police Auditorium.

The IGP mentioned that efforts are underway to restructure the police to prevent a recurrence of events similar to those in July and August. He also assured that each threat to the coordinators of the protests is being taken seriously, although nothing serious has been found yet.

Regarding the fire at the Secretariat, Baharul Alam stated that an investigation is underway, and the investigation committee will provide further details.
