Sought loan from China to implement Teesta master plan: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government is working to implement the Teesta master plan. In this context, the 51st meeting of the Foreign Aid Search Committee of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) decided to request the Chinese government to get an easy loan for the implementation of the project.
She said this in reply to a question from MP Hamidul Haque Khandaker from Kurigram-2 constituency in parliament on Wednesday (June 12).
The Prime Minister assured the parliament that the government has taken initiatives to implement the Teesta Master Plan to mitigate the sufferings of the people on the banks of the Teesta River in North Bengal. In order to implement the Teesta Master Plan, the PDPP of about Tk 8,210 crore was given to the ERD in August 2020 after completing the survey with the financial assistance of the Chinese government.
In addition, the PDPP sent an evaluation report of the Chinese government to the ERD on March 5 last year. The report mentions the lack of further analysis of large-scale land development and use and the development of navigation systems and large-scale investments.

S.S.C to be held on December instead of February

Why MP Anwarul Azim killed: who involved?

According to a source in Kolkata, two men and a woman entered the flat where MP Anar was murdered on May 13. After staying for a day, a man and a woman came out of the flat. It is believed that the woman is Shilasti Rahman. She may have entered the flat with Amanullah and MP Anar on May 13.
A senior officer of DB Police said, "Shilasti Rahman is the girlfriend of Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, the main planner of MP Anar's murder." On May 13, she entered the flat with Amanullah and MP Anar. After staying a day, a man and a woman came out of the flat. Shaheen used this woman as a trap to take MP Annar to Kolkata. Because, even though Shaheen returned home on May 10 after making all plans, Shilasti stayed in Kolkata. He returned to the country by plane on May 15.
An officer in charge of the intelligence department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said, "Shilasti was staying on another flat of that building at the time of the murder." She was not in front. After committing the murder, she came down. Then she helped hide the body.

Apart from this, the detectives are investigating whether any self-interested group is involved in the secret mission of killing Azim. It is known that Azim's ancestral home is in Madhuganj Bazar area of Kaliganj Upazila in Jhenaidah. He is the president of Upazila Awami League. He was elected MP for three consecutive times in 2014, 2018 and 2024 from Jhenaidah-4 Constituency. However, there are many discussions and criticisms about his past activities. He is alleged to have controlled the extremists in the South and West.
His name was also in the police list as the master of arms and explosives smuggling along the border. Azim is facing charges of arms-explosives, drug and gold smuggling, extortion, tender-fixing, extortion and harboring extremists.
In 2007 BDR (now BGB) seized 12 kg 950 grams of gold from Loknathpur area of Chuadanga. The smugglers came to know that Saiful Islam, the C&F businessman, had handed over this consignment. After that he was killed. The police issued a charge sheet against 19 people including Azim in that case. However, in 2012, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, several people were acquitted from the cases, including bringing them into political consideration.
When the Awami League government was formed in 2009, he started getting acquitted from other cases against Azim. And in 2014, after being elected MP on the nomination of Awami League, he freed himself from most of the cases.
Locals complain that MP Azim became the owner of huge wealth through illegal business. In 1991, he got involved in gold smuggling along with Paritosh Thakur, another smuggler of Jhenaidah. He joined Awami League in 1996. After that, he took the hand of a councilor of Kaliganj municipality and got involved in arms smuggling.
MP Anar murder: What mastermind Shaheen reveals from US
Anwarul Azim Anar, MP of Jhenaidah-4 constituency, has been killed in a planned and brutal manner in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Akhteruzzaman Shaheen, a childhood friend and business partner of MP Anar, is the mastermind of the incident. However, Shaheen, who lives in the United States, denied any involvement in the murder. When and where will Cyclone 'Remal' hit ?
The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. It may turn into a deep depression in the evening and take the form of a cyclone.
If it strengthens further into a cyclone then it will be named Cyclone Remal, according to the BMD.
Azizur Rahman, the director of the Meteorological Department said, 'If the cyclone turns into Remal, it is likely to hit Khepupara and Sundarbans areas of Patuakhali.'
The cyclone may hit the coast of the country on Sunday (May 26) morning. The cyclone is likely to cross the coast in the evening. But it all depends on the cyclone's speed.
If the depression turns into a cyclone, its center will directly hit Bangladesh. Its strength can increase as it comes closer to the coast. Power can be lost within four to six hours of crossing the coast.
Depression may turn into a cyclone 'Remal'
The low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal has already turned into a depression. It may develop into a cyclonic storm by today (Saturday) afternoon. It may then hit the southwest coast of Bangladesh.
On Saturday (May 25) morning, the meteorologist of the Department of Meteorology Bazlur Rashid told this information to media.
He said that depression could develop into a cyclonic storm by noon or afternoon. It is then likely to hit the Bangladesh coast on Sunday (May 26) evening. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur in different parts of the country including the coastal area because of the effect of cyclone.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Office has said that rain with gusty winds may start in different parts of the country from Saturday night. Rain will increase from Sunday. Storm surges of 5 to 10 feet are likely.
At noon yesterday, the depression was centred at 805 km southwest of Chattogram Port, 740 km southwest of Cox's Bazar Port, 765 km south of Mongla Port, and 730 km south of Payra Port.
The depression was moving toward the coast at a speed of 16 km/h and is expected to develop into a cyclone today, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"It may cross the Bangladesh coast between Payra and Khepupara. However, it is difficult to predict its trajectory at this time because it has not yet turned into a cyclone," According to a meteorologist of BMD.
The cyclone is likely to hit the coast of Khulna and Patuakhali along with the Sundarbans of Bangladesh. Its speed can be 120 to 130 km per hour. Meteorologists say that Remal may become a severe cyclone. However, there is no danger of a 'super cyclone'.
If the speed of wind generated by a cyclone is 62 to 88 kilometers per hour, then it is called a 'cyclone or tropical cyclone'. If the speed is 89-117 km/h, it is called 'severe cyclone'. And if the wind speed is 118 to 219 kilometers per hour, then it is called a 'hurricane speed cyclone or very severe cyclone'. A speed of 220 kmph or more is called a 'super cyclone'.

The country's four sea ports have been asked to display warning signal number 3. Storm surges of up to 10 feet are possible during the cyclone.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mohibbur Rahman gave this information on Saturday (May 25) afternoon.
He said that the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal may turn into a cyclone by noon today. It may extend from Satkhira to Cox's Bazar.
Mohibbur Rahman also said that Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been asked to show warning signal number 3. Storm surges of up to 10 feet may occur during cyclone. At night, number 10 may rise to the disaster signal.
Meanwhile, according to special weather bulletin number 6, the depression over East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal is moving towards North-Northeast and staying in the same area.

Shilasti Rahman: 'Honeytrap' of MP Anar's murder
A woman named Shilasti Rahman has been arrested in connection with MP Anar's mysterious murder.
It is known that, Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar went to Kolkata, India and became a victim of planned and brutal murder.
Shilasti Rahman was staying in the flat number 56 of BU block of Sanjiba Garden, an elite residence in Newtown, Kolkata, where MP Anar was killed.
A senior official of the DB police said Shilasti Rahman is a girlfriend of MP Anar murder mastermind Akteruzzaman Shahin. Along with Amanullah Aman and MP Anar, she entered the Kolkata flat on May 13 last. Shahin used the woman as a 'honey trap' to take MP Anar from Dhaka to Kolkata. After making all the plans, Shahin returned to Dhaka on May 15 leaving Shilasti in Kolkata flat. She returned to Bangladesh on May 15."
