NBR ex-commissioner Wahida banned from leaving country

Following the application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the court has banned former commissioner of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Wahida Rahman from leaving the country.

On Thursday (June 13), Judge Mohammad Assam Jaglul Hossain of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court gave this order.

It is known that Wahida Rahman has been banned from traveling abroad for 60 days. She is accused of giving 152 crores of interest concession to four mobile companies.

ACC public prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir participated in the hearing.

Before this, on June 11, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Wahida Rahman Chowdhury, the former commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Large Taxpayer Unit (MUSC). The case was filed against her on the charge of waiving interest related to VAT of Tk 152 crore to four mobile phone companies for abuse of power.
