People are returning home on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha. Overcrowding was also seen on the highways, railways and waterways. Like every year, the sufferings of the passengers on various roads and highways of the country including the capital Dhaka have reached the extreme. This year's Eid journey has become difficult due to traffic congestion, transport crisis, and excessive fare collection.

Traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Chattogram, Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Khulna highways is causing suffering to Eid holidaymakers on Friday (June 14). Besides, passengers are forced to wait for hours due to traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

Although the law enforcers are active in controlling traffic, it is becoming difficult to bring the situation under control due to huge pressure of vehicles and lack of adequate road management.

Due to the increase in demand for transport during Eid journey it has become very difficult to get bus and train tickets. Crowds of passengers are seen at bus terminals and railway stations.

Passengers complain that some corrupt transport owners and drivers are taking advantage of this opportunity to charge extra fare. Many are forced to leave for their destinations by paying extra fare.

Sakhawat Mishu, a passenger, said there was a huge crowd at Saidabad bus station on Friday. "I've been waiting since morning to go home. But I still couldn't get in the car", he added.

Another passenger, Riyad Morshed, said the bus fare is higher on the occasion of Eid. You have to go home on Eid. So they are forced to go home by paying more rent.
