'Rose Garden Palace' decorated in a new form

Awami League started the long struggle that led to the birth of the independent and sovereign state called Bangladesh. Today is the 75th anniversary of Awami League. To commemorate this historic day, the party undertaken various programs across the country, various arrangements have been made around the day. The Rose Garden Palace of old Dhaka has also been renovated.

Bangladesh Awami League was founded in this historic building. The East Pakistan Awami Muslim League (now Awami League) was planned to be formed on June 23, 1949 in this house located in KM Das Lane, Tikatuli of the capital. The 'East Pakistan Awami Muslim League' was established on June 23, 1949 at the Rose Garden Palace through a conference of a section of the Bengal Provincial Muslim League led by Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy and Abul Hashim. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani became its president, Shamsul Haque was elected as its general secretary.

Although Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was detained in prison, he was made joint general secretary in the first committee of Awami League.

Later in 1955, with the initiative of Maulana Bhashani, the word 'Muslim' was removed from the name of the organization and the name was given as 'East Pakistan Awami League' with the aim of establishing secularism and non-communal spirit.

On Saturday (June 22), the historic building closely associated with the independence of Bangladesh, located at KM Das Lane, Tikatuli in the capital, was visited. The building has been painted with new colors. Renovation work is going on all around. Various lighting lamps, banners and posters have been installed.

Apart from this, on the occasion of Awami League's platinum jubilee, various events have been organized around the day. Cultural events ranging from laser shows to the arts will be hosted at the historic Rose Garden Palace.

Pratik Chowdhury, senior manager of Mainspring, who supervised the lighting and laser show work, said, 'We are projecting the entire building. Here I will present the history of Awami League visually.' Apart from this, there are also arts and cultural events.
