Executioner Shahjahan dies
Shahjahan Bhuiyan, the 'executioner' of 60 death row convicts in different cases, has died (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).
He died while undergoing treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on Monday (June 24).
Mashiur Azam, sub-inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under DMP's Tejgaon zone, confirmed the matter.
He died around 5:30 am on Monday. His sister Firoza received the body at the hospital. After the legal formalities, Shahjahan's body will be buried at Isakhali village in Palash upazila of Narsingdi.
Earlier, executioner Shahjahan Bhuiyan, an accused in 36 cases, was released on June 18 last year after 32 years in jail. Shahjahan became an executioner from prisoner by executing criminals in the desire to reduce the sentence.
