Tajia procession of Shia sect started in capital
On the occasion of the holy Ashura, the Tajia procession of the Shia Muslims started in the capital.
The procession started from Hussaini Dalan in Old Dhaka on Wednesday (July 17) at 10 am. The procession will end by going to Azimpur, Nilkhet, Newmarket, Science Lab and Dhanmondi, crying 'Hai Hussain, Hai Hussain' with bare feet, pressing the chest.
Thousands of Shia people participated in it. It is reported that the police have taken strict security measures to ensure the smooth completion of the procession.
According to the police, strict security is being provided around various events and traditional tajia (mourning) processions centered around the Shia community at Hosseini Dalan Imambara, Bara Katara, and its surroundings in Lalbagh, Old Dhaka.
To participate in the mourning procession, black clothes were worn, black bands on the head, and red-black and gold colored flags were seen in some hands.
Law and order forces have banned the carrying of daggers, scissors, spears, axes, swords, and sticks to complete the Tajia procession properly. At the same time, bursting of firecrackers and crackers has been banned.
