UNICEF concerned about deaths of children

At least 32 children have been killed in the violence surrounding the quota movement, the United Nations Children's and Cultural Organization UNICEF has expressed concern.

The concern was expressed in a statement by the organization's regional head for South Asia, Sanjay Wijesekera, on Friday (August 2).

According to the statement, UNICEF has confirmed that at least 32 children were killed in the quota movement in July. Many more children were injured and detained. UNICEF condemns all forms of violence.

At the same time, expressing grief and sympathy to the family members of the killed children, the organization said that the protection of children must be ensured first. It is everyone's responsibility.

Apart from this, the statement also said that according to international human rights and children's rights charter, all situations of detention of children in Bangladesh must be ended.

According to UNICEF, Children and young people are the future of Bangladesh, and they should be protected.
