The High Court has fixed Thursday (August 22) for the hearing of a writ filed seeking to ban Awami League and cancel its registration on the charge of indiscriminate killings.

Tuesday (August 20) Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Md. Mahbubul Islam's High Court bench fixed this day for hearing.

Petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan himself heard on behalf of the writ in the court.

The writ was filed in the High Court last Monday (August 19) seeking to ban and cancel the registration of Bangladesh Awami League. Executive Director Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan filed the writ on behalf of the human rights organization SARDA Society. In this writ, institutions named after Sheikh Hasina have also been sought.

Apart from this, the writ seeks a minimum term of three years for the current interim government to reform the country. Along with this, it has been requested to bring back the 11 lakh crores smuggled abroad and to transfer the officials who were appointed on a contractual basis during the previous Awami League government.

The writ petitioner Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan said that rules and orders have been sought on the issues of the writ. The High Court bench headed by Justice KM Asaduzzaman will hear the writ petition next Thursday (August 22).
