Decision regarding rest of HSC exams
The remaining subjects of HSC and equivalent exams are scheduled to start on September 11, but it will be delayed by another 2 weeks. Simultaneously, the examination of the remaining subjects will be held in half question-and-answer mode.
The decision was taken at a meeting held on Tuesday (August 20) at the Ministry of Education under the chairmanship of Wahiduddin Mahmud, Education Advisor of the Interim Government.
According to the new decision, four questions will have to be answered on the same subject, which was previously required to answer 8 questions. But the exam will be full-time as before.
Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar confirmed this information.
Earlier, on Monday from noon to evening, the examinees protested they were not in a condition to sit for the examination by taking a stand at the Dhaka Education Board. They demanded the publication of the results of the examination based on the subjects in which the examination was conducted.
The examinees say many examinees have also been injured in the student-crowd agitation. Apart from this, studies have also been hampered. There is no condition to sit the exam in the arising circumstances.
After discussing with the higher authorities, Dhaka Education Board Examination Controller Abul Bashar gave an assurance about fulfilling the demands in the evening. After that, on Tuesday, it was decided to take half the questions and answers of the remaining subjects of the HSC and equivalent exams. And it was decided to postpone the exam from September 11 by another 2 weeks.
Incidentally, due to the quota reform movement and student uprising, the HSC and equivalent examinations were postponed several times.
After that, it was decided that the HSC and equivalent exams would be conducted in the new schedule from August 11. But later it was informed that the exam is not being held on August 11. The examination has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
A source on the education board said that after Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country, the trunks containing question papers were damaged in attacks on various police stations. So the decision to hold the exam from August 11 was postponed. The Board of Education had proposed to the interim government to hold the postponed examinations from September 11. Later it was approved.
