Tributes to Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 48th death anniversary

National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's 48th death anniversary today. Nation remembers him with respect on this day for his limitless contribution to Bengali literature.

Kazi Nazrul Islam, also known as the 'Rebel Poet', is considered a pioneer in Bengali literature.

On the occasion of the poet's 48th death anniversary, various organizations and institutions have organized various programs throughout the day to commemorate his life and work.

On the occasion of the death anniversary, people from all walks of life paid tribute to the poet's tomb with flowers.

In the morning, tributes were paid by placing wreaths at Kazi Nazrul Islam's tomb adjacent to the Central Mosque of Dhaka University.

The poet's family members also came to pay their respects at his tomb.

Besides, teachers, students, officials and employees of Dhaka University visited Kazi Nazrul Islam's tomb, laid wreaths and recited Fateha.

A delegation led by senior joint secretary general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also paid tributes at the tomb of Rebel Poet.

Later, various organizations including National Museum, Nazrul Research Center, Bangla Department of Dhaka University, Nazrul Academy, Socialist Party of Bangladesh, Socialist Student Front, Sur Saptak, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bangla Academy, Dhaka University Teachers Association, Bashori-Nazrul Research Center laid flowers at poet's tomb and paid homage.

It is to be noted that, Kazi Nazrul Islam, the rebel poet of Bangladesh breathed his last in Dhaka on 27 August 1976 and was buried next to a mosque on the Dhaka University campus.
