Donald Lu Arrives in Dhaka
Donald Lu, US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs has arrived in Dhaka. He came to Dhaka after a few days visit to Delhi.
He arrived at Dhaka airport on a flight on Saturday (September 14) at noon.
He will take part in several joint meetings of the United States with the interim government to advance bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
During the visit, there is a meeting of US representatives with Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain, finance and trade advisor Salehuddin Ahmed, and Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin.
Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin will host a lunch, which will be attended by representatives of the concerned ministries. Regarding Lu's visit, the foreign secretary told the media that there will be a wide range of topics to discuss, not just one.
A US State Department spokesperson said how the US can contribute to Bangladesh's economic growth, financial stability, and development priorities will be discussed.
According to the US State Department, during the visit, Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu will reiterate the US commitment to strengthen economic growth and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Lu will join an inter-agency delegation to meet with the interim government in Dhaka. The delegation will include representatives from the US Department of the Treasury, USAID, and the US Trade Office Representatives. There will be a discussion on the progress of bilateral relations in the new political situation.
Donald Lu is scheduled to leave Dhaka on Monday, September 16.
