Gold Reaches All-Time High in Bangladesh
The price of gold has reached a historic high in Bangladesh. The cost of 22-carat gold (11.664 grams) has increased by Tk3,581, bringing the new price to Tk1,29,902 per bhari. This is the highest gold price ever recorded in the country.
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced the price hike in a circular on Saturday (September 14). The new prices will come into effect from Sunday (September 15).
According to the circular, the rise in the local gold price is due to an increase in the cost of pure gold. BAJUS has adjusted the prices in line with market conditions. As per the updated rates, 22-carat gold will cost Tk1,29,902, 21-carat gold will be priced at Tk1,24,000, 18-carat at Tk1,06,282, and gold made using traditional methods will be sold for Tk87,013 per bhari.
Despite the rise in gold prices, the price of silver remains unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk2,100, 21-carat at Tk2,006, 18-carat at Tk1,715, and traditional silver at Tk1,283 per bhari.
Previously, on September 1, BAJUS had announced a reduction in gold prices after six consecutive increases. However, due to the ongoing market dynamics, they have now decided to raise prices again.
