Foreign Secretary M. Jashim Uddin stated that the United States wants to know about the reform plan of the interim government. At the same time, the US wants to see reforms in the financial sector and revenue sector.

He said this after a meeting with the US delegation at State Guest House Padma on Sunday (September 15) afternoon.

The Foreign Secretary said, "A high-level delegation led by US Treasury Assistant Undersecretary Brent Neiman is visiting Bangladesh. I had a meeting with them earlier. The Secretary of the Economic Relations Department, the Chairman of the Revenue Board, the Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and representatives of Bangladesh Bank were present at the meeting. In the meeting, I talked about the issues related to the interests of the two countries. We briefed the delegation about the steps already taken by the government in the context of the revolutionary changes initiated in the new Bangladesh which was achieved through the great sacrifices of the students."

He also said that preliminary discussions have been held with the delegation to bring back the smuggled money. However, there was no discussion on the outline of the election. Apart from this, the Dhaka-Delhi relationship did not come up for discussion.

M. Jashim Uddin said that the United States has had official support for the activities of the interim government for the last one and a half months. The US promised to support the reforms in the future. In the meeting, we discussed various issues including labor environment, human rights protection, and Rohingya humanitarian assistance.

In addition, the annual cooperation agreement between the Department of Economic Relations and USAID was signed today.
