U.S. President Joe Biden held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government. During the meeting, Biden expressed his country's full support for the interim government led by Dr. Yunus.

The meeting took place at 11:00 AM local time on Tuesday (September 24) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Such a meeting has not occurred between a head of state or government of Bangladesh and a U.S. President in the last three decades.

In a statement from the Press Wing, it was mentioned that during the meeting, Dr. Yunus informed Joe Biden about the courageous role of students in standing against all forms of oppression under the previous government and their significant contributions to rebuilding Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Yunus emphasized that his government must succeed in the task of rebuilding the country. In response, U.S. President Biden assured that the U.S. government would stand by Bangladesh's government, offering any necessary support.

President Biden remarked that if students could make such sacrifices for their country, it was only right for the U.S. government to provide full cooperation.

During the meeting, the Chief Advisor presented President Biden with an art book titled The Art of Triumph, which contains images of murals painted by Bangladeshi students during and after the July Revolution.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, arrived in New York on Monday to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He is leading one of the smallest delegations in recent memory, with a total of 57 members accompanying him.

During the UN General Assembly session, Dr. Yunus is scheduled to meet with leaders such as the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Prime Minister of Nepal, the President of the European Commission, the U.S. Secretary of State, the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the World Bank Group, and the Administrator of USAID.

On September 27, Dr. Muhammad Yunus will deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly.
