Three women were killed and 30 more injured in a collision between a garment worker transport bus and a truck in the Boali Bridge area on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Shibalaya, Manikganj. The accident occurred around 6:30 AM on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Bithi Akter, wife of Iqbal Hossain from Samezghar Teota village in Shibalaya; Fuli Begum, wife of Baten Sheikh; and Sabina Akter, wife of Sabbir Hossain.
According to the police, the bus was carrying workers of the Tarasima Garments Factory from Aricha towards Noyadingi in Manikganj. Upon reaching the Boali area, the bus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
Md. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Borongail Highway Police, stated that the front of the bus was completely crushed, and the truck fell into a nearby ditch. One person died at the scene, while two others passed away after being taken to the hospital.
He added that the identities of some victims are still unknown. Local fire services, highway police, police officers, and residents assisted in rescuing the injured and recovering the bodies.
