The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon has urged Bangladeshi expatriates in the country to prioritize their safety amid ongoing conflicts. In a video message early Sunday, Bangladesh’s Ambassador in Beirut, Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanvir Khan, stated, "In the current situation, please remain in a safe location. If you face any problems, inform us immediately; we are committed to providing the necessary assistance."

The ambassador also asked expatriates seeking shelter to contact the embassy’s helpline and hotline numbers without delay. The front desk number is 71217139, the hotline number is 70635278, and the helpline number is 81744207. For email inquiries, please write to beirut.mission@mofa.gov.bd.

According to the ambassador, the situation in Lebanon has significantly deteriorated over the last four to five days, with various incidents such as law enforcement issues, gunfights, roadblocks, vandalism, and other security threats occurring in different parts of Beirut.

Last night, the mission advised expatriates in the Dahiyeh area and surrounding regions to quickly move to safer locations and expressed gratitude to those who heeded the advice. The ambassador also sincerely thanked those who are helping fellow expatriates in need of food and shelter. "Additionally, many social organizations among the expatriates have come forward to assist, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to them," he said.

The ambassador mentioned that the embassy is actively collecting information about those who have moved to safer areas from their workplaces and residences and assured that as much support as possible will be provided. "We will do everything we can to help you reach relatively safer locations," he added.

Furthermore, the embassy has been consistently updating authorities in Dhaka on the severity of the situation in Lebanon and the needs of distressed expatriates, the ambassador stated. In earlier communications, the embassy had warned expatriates to seek shelter in safe areas during the escalating situation in southern Lebanon. Lastly, the ambassador urged everyone to avoid rumors and called for unity, patience, and courage in supporting those in distress.
