Malaysian PM arrives in Dhaka
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Dhaka with a delegation of 58 members. Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government welcomed him at the airport.
He landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday (October 4) afternoon. At that time, the Prime Minister of Malaysia was given a guard of honor.
This was confirmed by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser.
The Malaysian Prime Minister is the first top leader to visit Dhaka after Dr. Yunus took over as the head of the interim government.
Foreign Ministry sources said that after the formalities at the airport, the Prime Minister of Malaysia will be taken to Hotel Intercontinental with a formal motorcade. There will be a one-to-one meeting between chief adviser Dr Yunus and Malaysian PM Ibrahim.
Later, the two leaders will discuss this at the bilateral level. A wide range of issues of mutual interest are expected to dominate there including economic cooperation, political relations, trade and investment, labor migration, education, technology, infrastructure development, and defense cooperation.
Earlier, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak visited Dhaka in November 2013 on an official visit. After almost 11 years, this is going to be the visit of a Malaysian Prime Minister to Bangladesh.
