Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has remarked that the Awami League is the most extremist and terrorist group in Bangladesh’s history, claiming that "no one surpassed them in terrorism."

He made these remarks on Sunday (October 13) during Jamaat’s Rukon (member) conference at the China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka.

Shafiqur Rahman said, “Awami League formed groups like the hammer-helmet brigade under the banner of Chhatra League. Leaders like Obaidul Quader took pride in arrogance and wrongdoing, violating human rights and disregarding humanity. Where are they now? They must face the consequences of every misdeed.”

Demanding swift justice for the mass killings of July-August, he added, “Not only those, but all murders that have occurred so far must be brought to justice.”

The Jamaat chief vowed that the party would not seek revenge but promised justice for every oppressed person. He said, “After the revolution, Jamaat workers did not engage in extortion or land grabbing but stood by the people.”

Expressing his desire to build national unity, Shafiqur Rahman urged, “To create a nation free of inequality and corruption, I call upon civil society, journalists, and everyone to work together.”
