The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has transformed into a cyclonic storm named Dana and is heading towards the Odisha-Bengal coast. The storm is likely to make landfall between Bhitarkanika Park and Dhamra Port on October 25, Friday, according to IMD's latest update. The wind speed of the cyclone will be 100-110 mph with gusty winds of 120 mph, according to the IMD.

The Meteorological Department has issued heavy rainfall alerts for multiple state districts. Consequentially, nearly 10 lakh people from coastal areas prone to the cyclone are being evacuated to relief camps.

It is known that hostile weather is prevailing in the southern coastal areas of Bangladesh under the influence of Cyclone Dana. Light to moderate rain is falling in some places.

Meteorologist Mohammad Abdul Rahman Khan said, if the path is not changed, "Dana" can cross the south-west region especially the coastal region of Khulna and Barishal at any time on Thursday night.

Due to the effect of 'Dana', river water is rising in various areas including Khulna, Satkhira, and Pirojpur. The sky was cloudy with drizzle in the capital as well.

Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been asked to display warning signal number 01.

Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep-sea areas have been advised to remain near the coast and navigate cautiously until further notice, ensuring they can reach safe shelters on short notice.
