Pilkhana Massacre Will Be Reinvestigated: Home Advisor
Retired Lieutenant General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, the Home Advisor, has confirmed that the Pilkhana massacre will indeed be reinvestigated.
He made this statement on Monday (November 4) after visiting the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital.
Jahangir Alam stated that while it is yet to be decided whether a commission will be formed to investigate the Pilkhana massacre, a reinvestigation is certain.
Emphasizing zero tolerance for criminals, he said, "In the past, many powerful criminals would often escape justice. This will no longer be allowed."
During his visit, the Home Advisor also instructed strict monitoring to prevent illegal goods from entering the country through the border.
Earlier, on Sunday (November 3), the High Court asked the state whether a reinvestigation commission had been formed to uncover the reasons behind the Pilkhana massacre.
On February 25-26, 2009, a faction of the then-BDR (now BGB) staged a violent mutiny at its headquarters in Pilkhana under the guise of raising demands, which involved arson, looting, and a brutal massacre. A total of 74 people were killed, including 57 army officers.
