Ulemas Gather for Islamic Grand Conference at Suhrawardy Udyan
As previously announced, an Islamic grand conference is being held today, Tuesday (November 5), at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan. Scholars and Ulemas began gathering for the event just after the Fajr prayers.
It was announced that from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the conference would focus on dawah (religious outreach), Tabligh, the preservation of religious education, and safeguarding Islam.
In a statement on Sunday, it was announced that the Islamic grand conference, organized by Ulamas of Bangladesh, would begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, inviting scholars and people from all walks of life to participate.
Notably, since 2019, the annual World Ijtema (Islamic congregation) has been divided into two parts for the two factions of Tabligh. Followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi traditionally hold the second phase, but this year they requested the first phase. In response, scholars from Qawmi madrasas organized this grand conference to express their opposition.
