14 Heavyweight Defendants Being Taken to ICT on Monday

A total of 14 heavyweight defendants, including 10 former ministers of the ousted Awami League government, two advisers, a retired judge, and a former secretary, will appear before the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) on Monday (November 18) in the case filed in connection with the July-August massacre.

On Sunday (November 17), the chief prosecutor of the tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, confirmed the matter to the media.

He said that they would be taken to the International Criminal Tribunal by showing their arrest in the case of crimes against humanity. Currently, they are all in jail after being arrested in another case.

Those who are being taken to the tribunal in the July-August massacre are former Law Minister Anisul Huq, Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Prime Minister's Advisor Salman F Rahman, Tawfiq-e-Elahi, A. Razzak, Shahjahan Khan, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, retired Justice of Appellate Division Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam.

Before this, on October 27, a three-member judicial panel headed by the chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar passed this order.

Incidentally, on October 17, the judicial proceedings of the International Criminal Tribunal began with the issuance of arrest warrants against 46 people including Sheikh Hasina for crimes against humanity.
