Key steps discussed included the revision of the Bangladesh Labor Act (BLA), the establishment of a High-Powered Commission on Labor, the formation of a minimum wage review committee, and the agreement on an 18-point demand. Additionally, Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the ILO Roadmap and US labor action plans in phases.
The US delegation commended Bangladesh for the significant strides made in labor reform within a short period, particularly applauding the government’s efforts to foster dialogue between employers and employees. They reiterated their support for these initiatives and pledged continued collaboration on the remaining reform agenda.
Representatives from global fashion brands stressed the importance of fair wages and skill development to enhance the industry's competitive edge in the global market for high-end products.
