SP Nihar Ranjan Punished for Corruption
In a case of misconduct and corruption, Police Superintendent Nihar Ranjan Howlader, attached to the Rajshahi Range DIG office has been demoted by one grade in his salary scale for one year.
The information was shared through a notification signed by Abdul Momen, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division on Sunday (December 8).
This notification was published on the Ministry's website on Wednesday (December 11).
The notification states that Nihar Ranjan Howlader was found guilty of allegations of "misconduct" and "tendency towards corruption" under Rules 3(ka) and 3(kha) of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
It further mentions that after reviewing the show-cause replies (1st and 2nd), investigation reports, and other documents, the allegations of misconduct and corruption were substantiated. As a result, he has been punished with demotion for one year as per Sub-Rule (1)(gha) of Rule 4(2) of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018. The notification also states that his salary will not be adjusted in the future.
