The Press Wing of the Chief Adviser has announced that journalists will no longer be allowed access to the Secretariat as a precautionary measure following the recent devastating fire incident.

In a press release issued on Saturday morning, the Chief Adviser’s office stated that this decision was made to ensure the security of Key Point Installations (KPI) that were affected during the fire earlier this week.

The statement further mentioned that the government would soon review existing press accreditation cards and invite fresh applications from all local and international news outlets to issue new accreditation cards.

In the interim, temporary daily access cards for events will be issued by the respective ministries. The government apologized for the inconvenience and requested journalists’ cooperation during this period.

Additionally, on Friday, the government canceled all temporary Secretariat access passes (for non-government personnel) except for the permanent access passes issued to Secretariat officials and employees and the temporary access passes issued to government officers and staff.
