Elections by December if No More Reforms: Press Secretary
The Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Shafiqul Alam, has announced that elections will be held by December of this year if political parties do not demand major reforms.
On Tuesday (January 7), he conveyed this information to journalists at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB).
The Press Secretary stated that the interim government has provided a roadmap. Through this roadmap, we have been able to create a public aspiration among the people of the country. We have set two timelines. If political parties do not want significant reforms, we will hold elections by December of this year. If more reforms are desired, an additional six months will be required.
He mentioned that they have managed to bring the country to a considerable level of stability. The economy was expected to have reserves of 20 billion dollars based on its growth trajectory. However, it currently stands at 22 billion dollars. From this perspective, it can be said that we have made a comeback.
Shafiqul Alam further stated that after the fall of the Awami government and the assumption of responsibility by the interim government, there has been an enormous surge of expectations among the people. We are continuing to work towards fulfilling their aspirations.
He also mentioned that the Press Wing has opened a WhatsApp group. Anyone interested in joining is being added to this group. Information about every government activity is being communicated to the public.
