The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has reported finding evidence of power abuse in the allocation of 60 katha plots in Purbachal to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six members of her family.

Md. Akhtar Hossain, Director General of the ACC, disclosed this information during a briefing on Wednesday (January 8).

"Our investigation team has undertaken several activities, and we have gathered sufficient information on the matters under scrutiny," he said. "Particularly concerning the allocation of 60 katha plots in RAJUK's Purbachal project, we will soon be able to provide some substantial information."

When asked whether the evidence could lead to a case, Hossain replied, "It would not be appropriate to comment on that just yet. Once the investigation team submits their report, we will be able to share some positive news with you shortly. However, the records we have obtained clearly indicate evidence of power abuse."

Previously, on December 26, the ACC launched an investigation into allegations that Sheikh Hasina and five members of her family were allocated six plots, each measuring 10 katha, in Purbachal through power abuse. The individuals include her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and daughter Azmina Siddiq.

The ACC had stated that based on political considerations and under the government's power as per Section 13/A, these six individuals were allocated six plots, totaling 60 katha, in the diplomatic zone of Sector 27 in the Purbachal New Town project. The information was published in the media, prompting the ACC to decide to launch an investigation.
