The Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), which has been causing widespread concern across East Asia since the start of the new year, has now been detected in the country.
After initially emerging in China, the virus rapidly spread to Japan, Malaysia, and India. Now, health authorities have confirmed the domestic case of HMPV.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control, and Research (IEDCR) officially reported on Sunday (January 12) that a woman from the Bhairab area in Kishoreganj district has tested positive for the virus.
Earlier this January, the virus was first detected in China. Following that, it was identified in Japan. Recently, the outbreak of HMPV has also spread to Malaysia and India.
