The Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has issued a warning urging Bangladeshi women not to travel to Malaysia for work, citing widespread fraudulent activities targeting female workers.

In a statement released on Friday (January 31), the High Commission highlighted that there is currently no government-to-government agreement between Bangladesh and Malaysia for the recruitment of female workers. Despite this, organized fraudulent groups are luring women with false promises of employment, illegally transporting them to Malaysia on tourist or other visas, and exploiting them.

The statement further emphasized the financial and psychological risks associated with such fraudulent schemes. It also warned that these activities could harm Bangladesh's reputation in Malaysia. Until an official agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is established between the two governments, Bangladeshi women are strongly advised against travelling to Malaysia as general workers.
