The colorful ‘Bangladesh Development Fair’ was organized at Bangladesh consulate auditorium in New York. Diplomats of different countries appointed in the United Nations, top officials of development agencies, consul general of different countries, freedom fighters and members of expatriate generation were present in the program jointly organized by Bangladesh mission in the United Nations and New York consulate general on Friday.
In the program United Nations under Secretary General Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu said, the total population are united today under prudent leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister. Bangladesh has turned into an epic of development which gives us the lesson of firm commitment to achieve target, boldness of national leadership and inspiring all the people in development activities.
She upheld the importance of political and economical stability to continue development trend and said, political stability is prerequisite to long-term and sustainable development. Bangladesh is marching towards the desired target with initiatives from private sector, NGO and innovative entrepreneurs. She thinks that if price for locally produced goods is ensured then eagerness to invest in agriculture and readymade garments as well as mill-factories will increase.
Indian Consul General and Ambassador Sandeep Chakrawarty was present. According to his opinion Bangladesh’s progress to the development highway was made possible through people’s empowerment by inspiring whole population in the path of development, women’s empowerment and through increasing consciousness in education and health.
The program started through screening video titled ‘Indomitable Bangladesh’. The artists of Nrityanjalee performed a dance program to show respect to father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and martyrs of liberation war.
In the welcome speech Consul General Sadia Foyjunnesa presented some secret information about Bangladesh’s achievement. Sadia mentioned that Bangladesh is marching forward with firm commitment by Bangabandhu’s daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visionary leadership with limited resources.
Ambassador Masud Bin Momen said, to establish world peace the soldiers of Bangladesh are paying outstanding contribution. The ongoing activities to develop quality of life of people in Bangladesh are being praised in international forum. The country which was defamed as ‘bottomless basket’, now it is termed as ‘Model of development’ by the UN Secretary General.
UNDP Human Development Agency Director Dr. Selim Jahan presented the description of development of quality of life as well as infrastructural development of Bangladesh.
Senior United Nations officials were present and delivered speeches in the program.
