BNP leader Abu Bakar Abu from Jashore went missing from Paltan four days ago after coming Dhaka to collect BNP nomination papers for the eleventh national parliament election. His dead body found in Buriganga river on Thursday. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has ordered police to take action after investigating the matter.
BNP alleged that the BNP leader was in police custody, law enforcement agency picked him up. In this regard CEC said, we will direct police to investigate the incident, so that the culprits are identified and brought under law.
He said these after completion of a program of training for the trainers on the occasion of eleventh parliament election on Friday.
He also said that decision will be taken within couple of days over in how many centers Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the eleventh parliament election.
KM Nurul Huda said, EVM is a new initiative. It will drive away the problems of voting with ballots. It was already used in local government election. There is no legal bar to use EVM in the parliament election. We will use it.
He said, where the EVM will be used people have to be oriented there, so that there will be no problem. Let the different parties allow examining EVMs who oppose those. Let them examine the technical aspects of EVM with their own people. Then the confusion will go away.
To the trainers the CEC said, we have elaborate preparation centering December 30. The day is so important that on this day people will elect their representatives. It is a very important day for all including the political parties.
To the trainers he also said, you have to be alert while providing training for the polling agents. Because they are the representatives of political parties. You should listen to them. Many can utter negative speeches but you should not take those. Let them understand what they want to know.
