Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, as the underprivileged population disabled were not judged as human being. We should not neglect them, we should provide the rights to them that they deserve.
She said these at a program of international disabled day at the Bangabandhu international conference center in the capital on Monday.
Directing the concerned authorities to construct establishments fit for the disabled the premier said, the power, the merit that the disabled inherited we should use those. There is no scope to neglect them.
Mentioning that after assuming power in 1996 her government is working to protect the rights of disabled, the premier said, we should provide the rights that they deserve and the power that they inherited we should use that and that is our target.
She said, Awami League government made the way clear for the disabled to form welfare foundation for them and to involve disabled in Special Olympic who are attached with sports.
The Prime Minister said, after assuming in power the Awami League government enacted the Disabilities Rights and Protection Act, 2013 and the Neuro Developmental Disability Protection Trust Act, 2013.
She said, my direction will be that as many the establishments are constructed there should be provision for disabled person’s movement and other facilities.
She said, directions were given for making special toilets in the educational institutions and in other places.
Mentioning that our disabled players always achieve gold for the country, the Prime Minister said, a movement took place demanding quota abolishment, the movement happened often. Although quota is abolished but task is going on to formulate different policy for disabled and other underprivileged population.
