Saudi Arabia has donated 15,860 food baskets to Bangladesh as part of a humanitarian initiative aimed at ensuring food security for underprivileged families.
The Royal Saudi Embassy in Dhaka organized an opening ceremony for the "Food Basket Distribution Project in Bangladesh" on Tuesday, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS Relief).
The initiative is being implemented by the Sunbulah Welfare Association of Bangladesh, with financial support from KS Relief. The program targets 23 districts across the country, distributing food baskets to families in need.
Each food basket contains:
Rice: 10 kg
Lentils: 7 kg
Edible oil: 3 liters
Salt: 1 kg
Sugar: 3 kg
The distribution covers districts including Dhaka, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Tangail, Nilphamari, Bogura, Noakhali, Bagerhat, Gopalganj, Pirojpur, Pabna, Barguna, Jashore, Rangpur, Naogaon, Khulna, Cox’s Bazar, Lalmonirhat, Chapai Nawabganj, Gazipur, Bhola, Cumilla, and Munshiganj.
Ceremony Highlights
The event was presided over by His Excellency Eessa bin Yusuf Al Dohaila, Ambassador of the Royal Saudi Embassy in Dhaka. Several dignitaries from Saudi Arabia attended, including Ahmad Bin Saleh Arremah, Khalid Bin Abdur Rahman Raji, Abdur Rahman Alzeben, Abdur Rahman Almigren, and Naser Al Saeed.
Dr. Mohammad Shakir Hossain, Chairman and CEO of the Sunbulah Welfare Association of Bangladesh, also addressed the event.
Ambassador Dohaila emphasized Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and highlighted the program as an example of the strong development partnership between the two nations. He expressed hope that such initiatives would strengthen ties between the people of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
