The condition of the eight-year-old girl who was raped in Magura remains extremely critical. Her brain remains unresponsive, and her heart is repeatedly stopping unexpectedly.
According to the Chief Advisor's Press Wing on Thursday (March 13), the child has suffered two more cardiac arrests, bringing the total to six in just two days.
During the latest cardiac arrest, doctors had to perform CPR for nearly 30 minutes to revive her heartbeat. Her brain is still not functioning, and her blood pressure and oxygen levels remain dangerously low.
On Wednesday night, the Bangladesh Army stated in a Facebook post that the child had suffered four cardiac arrests while undergoing treatment. Medical teams managed to stabilize her condition through CPR. Due to an imbalance in her blood electrolytes, she is undergoing dialysis. Her blood pressure has dropped as low as 60/40 mmHg or even lower.
She is currently receiving treatment at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, where doctors are following standard ICU protocols, conducting daily tests, and providing the highest level of medical care.
The tragic incident occurred on March 5, when the child was visiting her sister’s house. She was first admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, but there was no improvement. On March 6, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an unconscious state. By March 7, she was placed on life support, and on March 8, she was moved to CMH for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, authorities have collected DNA samples from three male suspects in connection with the case. On March 11, the suspects were taken from Magura to the CID's DNA profiling lab in Dhaka. The child's DNA sample was also submitted for analysis.
