Another clash broke out between students of Dhaka College and City College in Dhaka.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am on Tuesday (April 22) at the Science Lab intersection, where students from both institutions engaged in chase and counter-chase.
According to reports, the conflict stemmed from an incident on Monday when a Dhaka College student was allegedly assaulted. In response, a group of Dhaka College students gathered in front of City College today. When City College teachers attempted to intervene, the Dhaka College students began throwing bricks and stones at the college gate, escalating the situation.
Witnesses say both groups got involved in a heated confrontation that soon turned into physical clashes.
New Market Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohsin Uddin stated that additional police forces were deployed to control the situation, and efforts are being made to send students back to their respective campuses. He also noted that long-standing tensions exist between the two colleges over various issues.
This is not the first such incident. On February 9, a verbal altercation led to a violent clash between students of the two colleges in the same area, leaving several injured. A similar incident occurred on April 15 following disputes on social media, which also required police intervention to restore order.
