The month long Amar Ekushey Book Fair has been extended by two days. General people can visit the fair till March 2. The duration has been extended following direction of the Prime Minister on pretext of demand by the writers and publishers.
The information came through a press release of Bangla Academy on Thursday.
The theme of this year’s book fair is ‘Victory: 1952 to 1971 new phase’.
Total 523 organizations have taken part in this year’s book fair. Besides, 180 little magazines were allocated stalls. Total 499 organizations were allocated 770 units in this year. Of those 150 units were allocated to 104 organizations at Bangla Academy premises and 620 units were allocated to 395 organizations at Suhrawardy Udyan premises. The book fair is organized in 25 thousand square feet area including Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan.
24 pavilions were allocated for 24 publishing organizations including Bangla Academy. At the little magazine yard 180 little magazines were provided 155 stalls. Two little magazines were provided space each for 25 stalls. More 130 organizations have got stalls.
The book fair is open for all from 3 pm to 9 pm every day. On weekly holiday the Ekushey Book Fair is open from 11 am to 9 pm.
