Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, from jute leaves to all of it are usable and not to be wasted, so there is nothing to be frustrated about jute. Nothing is negligible of jute. Then why we will do loss with jute? Rather how it can be profitable, that should be found out. I am not with the frustrated party, I am always optimistic.
She said these at a discussion on the occasion of national jute day at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday. After the discussion the Prime Minister inaugurated a fair of jute goods.
The slogan of the day, organized for the third time in the country, is ‘Golden country of the golden fiber, Bangladesh of father of the nation’.
The Prime Minister said, as agricultural product jute can get incentives. Again jute products can get incentives as exportable product. We need to calculate domestic demand as well as to find out global market. I believe we can make jute as profitable commodity after inventing new products following research.
Upholding multipurpose use of jute Sheikh Hasina said, we can eat jute leaves as spinach. It is used for treatment of different diseases. The inner part of jute that we call jute sticks has different kind of uses. It can be used as fence for homes. Now furniture, charcoals are being made of jute sticks.
She also said, new commodities are being made of jute. Sonali bag is being made with jute which is environment friendly, not like normal polythene. It will mix with the soil. We have to invent more new products. We have to find out market for these products. Golden days will come back if we can do proper marketing- I believe.
