Vote counting is going on after completion of vote casting in Dhaka north and south city corporation elections. The voting started at 8 am and concluded at 4 pm. In the both cities Awami League nominated candidates are ahead according to the last information came.
In the results of 144 voting centers in Dhaka south city corporation AL candidate Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh got 56599 votes. On the other hand BNP nominated candidate Ishraque Hossain got 29959 votes.
In Dhaka north city corporation after getting results of 51 centers, Awami League nominated candidate Atiqul Islam for symbol of boat got 16765 votes while BNP nominated candidate Tabith Awal for symbol sheaf of paddy got 10788 votes.
Though the weather was good but voter turnout was low. General holiday was declared in the two city corporation areas. For the first time in these city corporation elections Electronic Voting Machines were used for vote casting.
