Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said, India has the biggest commercial relation with Bangladesh. India’s 28 per cent economy is related to Bangladesh. India has no intention to act like big brother with Bangladesh. India’s friendship is remaining with 17 crore Bangladeshi people.
He said this while participating the DCAB Talk at Jatiya Press Club on Monday.
Doraiswami said, India could not issue visas for Bangladeshi people due to corona. As the corona situation is getting normal so we have issued 1600 visas on Sunday. I cannot understand why some Bangladeshis have misconceptions about India. How India act like big brother that is not known to me. India does not like to act like big brother.
He said, India sees Bangladesh’s development as its own. Do not pay heed to any information of conspiracy. We always believe in development of each other. Our aim is to develop relation from people to people, government to government and business. Our good future depends on how much strong is our relation.
About Teesta agreement Doraiswami said, not signing treaty is a matter of great regret. We are holding discussion with state government over Teesta, it is not being possible due to their inaction. And all the border killings are not committed by BSF. It needs efforts of two sides to prevent the killings.
