He made this remark on Wednesday (February 5) afternoon while receiving the report from the Public Administration and Judiciary Reform Commission at his office.

Professor Yunus said that these reports will be published to build a consensus among political parties and stakeholders. The reforms will be implemented based on these reports.

“This is major news for the nation,” he said. “On behalf of the nation, I sincerely thank the two chairpersons of the commission and all its members.”

Dr. Yunus further stated that these two reports will impact every citizen of the country. “Other commissions may deal with major issues, but they do not directly affect everyone. You may be the poorest, the richest, or someone in between—there is no escape from these two issues. You will inevitably be connected to them.”

He added, “The hope they have presented here gives us optimism. Perhaps, we will finally be free from these problems. We will truly regain our rights as citizens. That is our expectation.”

He expressed hope that this report would fulfill those expectations.

Professor Yunus said, “We will place the reform commission’s report in the hands of the people, political parties, and civil society organizations so they can reach a consensus.”

“Everyone should feel that the right words have been spoken, that this speaks to their hearts. Because I myself am a victim. We don’t need to be scholars to understand this. The humiliation we endure daily—this report will free us from that.”

The Chief Adviser emphasized that the Reform Commission’s work is not just a contribution to Bangladesh but also to the world. “Every nation has to face such challenges. My request is that this report be translated into English.”

He said, “To present this on the global stage, we must use the global language. The two volumes we are receiving today are not just a national asset but also an asset to the world.”

Addressing the commission’s leaders and members, he remarked, “Your wisdom, experience, and academic knowledge have been distilled into this report. Additionally, the voices of many people you have spoken to are also reflected here. This will be a historic document for Bangladesh.”

He concluded, “Future generations will judge us based on what we did or did not do. They will have the right to ask, ‘You had the opportunity—why didn’t you act?’ It is not that they were unaware. Everything has been documented in this report. Therefore, this outcome is a remarkable achievement for the nation.”
