Dr Yunus Returns Bangladesh After UAE Visit

Dr Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, has returned to Bangladesh after a two-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

His flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday (February 14) at 5 pm. The Chief Advisor's press wing confirmed his arrival in a brief statement.

During his visit, Dr Yunus attended the World Government Summit in Dubai and held meetings with several UAE ministers.

Discussions focused on key issues, including visa restrictions on Bangladeshi citizens, trade and business expansion, and potential investments by UAE businesses in Chattogram Port.

He encouraged UAE companies to relocate their factories to Bangladesh. Additionally, in response to a proposal from UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Dr Yunus gave policy-level approval for the establishment of a special industrial park for Emirati investors.

The Chief Advisor highlighted the potential for UAE businesses to utilize Bangladesh's affordable workforce to position the country as a hub for halal product manufacturing. Minister Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi expressed his willingness to lead a high-level trade and investment delegation to Bangladesh soon.

On his departure from Dubai, UAE's Minister of Sports, Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, bid him farewell at Dubai International Airport. Dr Yunus returned home on an Emirates Airlines flight.

Accompanying him on this visit were Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain, Special Envoy Lutfe Siddiqui, and Senior Secretary Lamia Morshed.
