United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, currently on a four-day visit to Bangladesh, inaugurated the UN House in Dhaka today as part of his scheduled activities.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday, March 15, in Gulshan, Dhaka. Following the event, Guterres toured the UN office, attended a photography exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-UN relations, and formally raised the UN flag.
Adilur Rahman Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works attended the event along with other dignitaries.
Earlier in the day, Guterres participated in a meeting between the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and Bangladesh.
As per his itinerary, he is scheduled to join a roundtable discussion at Hotel InterContinental in the afternoon with a BNP delegation to discuss reform proposals. Later, he will engage with representatives from youth and civil society.
In the evening, the UN Secretary-General and Foreign Affairs Advisor Md Touhid Hossain will hold a joint press conference.
Guterres arrived in Dhaka on Thursday, March 13, at 5 pm, where he was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Foreign Affairs Advisor Md Touhid Hossain.
