Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, officially inaugurated Police Week 2025 at a grand ceremony held Tuesday morning at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium in Dhaka.
The three-day event began with the Chief Adviser awarding medals to 62 exemplary police officers in recognition of their outstanding service.
This year's theme for Police Week is: "My Police, My Country – A Discrimination-Free Bangladesh."
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Home Affairs Adviser, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Additional IGPs, metropolitan police commissioners, range DIGs, district superintendents of police, and members from all ranks of the force.
According to the Police Headquarters, the program will continue with a series of activities:
On April 30:
- Presentations by the Special Branch (SB) at 9:00 am
- Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 9:15 am
- Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at 10:00 am.
There will also be meetings between police officials and government advisers and secretaries, as well as presentations from the Tourist Police, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), and the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU).
On May 1:
- IGP Badge Presentation Ceremony
- Senior Police Officers' Conference
- Citizen Engagement Dialogue
- Annual General Meetings of the Police Service Association and the Police Officers' Mess
- Reunion event for retired and active officers, followed by a formal dinner.
On May 2:
On May 2, the annual Bangladesh Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) assembly and fair will take place, including prize-giving for various stalls and a closing ceremony.
