All government offices and banks are open today, Saturday, May 24, despite it being a weekly holiday. Bank customers can conduct all regular transactions. Banking operations will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM today.
Government employees are set to receive a ten-day continuous holiday for Eid-ul-Adha this year. To facilitate this, the government declared additional executive order holidays for June 11 and 12 (Wednesday and Thursday).
However, earlier decisions mandated government offices remain open on Saturday, May 17, and today, May 24. Accordingly, offices, banks, and educational institutions are operating today.
Government offices will also function as usual from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM today. Last Saturday, offices and banks were also open, though government offices saw a more relaxed atmosphere and lower attendance compared to regular working days.
The decision to grant two additional executive order holidays (June 11 and 12) for Eid was approved at an advisory council meeting on May 7. Concurrently, a circular was issued regarding keeping offices open on the two holiday Saturdays (May 17 and 24).
The circular states that all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices will remain open on both weekly holidays (May 17 and 24).
It's worth noting that Eid-ul-Adha, the second largest religious festival for Muslims in the country, is expected to be celebrated on June 7, subject to moon sighting. This year, government officials and employees will enjoy a ten-day continuous holiday from June 5 to June 14 for Eid-ul-Adha.
Originally, the Eid-ul-Adha holiday was set for six days, from June 5 to June 10. However, to ensure smooth travel during the Eid period, June 11 and 12 were also declared holidays, resulting in the ten-day continuous break for government employees from June 5 to June 14.
